Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in Eyelid Surgery and Dry Eye Disease
Dr Priya Udani is an ophthalmic surgeon with a special interest in eyelid surgery and dry eye disease. She helps patients whose eyes feel uncomfortable, water persistently or look increasingly heavy and tired, combining surgical expertise with a detailed understanding of eye health.
Her surgical practice includes upper eyelid blepharoplasty, removal of eyelid lumps and lesions, chalazion surgery and procedures to improve tear drainage. For patients considering eyelid surgery, she carefully assesses the eyelids and the surface of the eyes together, planning treatment around both appearance and function. Her aim is a natural-looking result that respects each patient’s individual features.
Priya also provides personalised care for dry eye disease, blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction. She has a particular interest in patients whose symptoms are associated with perimenopause, menopause, rosacea or sensitive skin, and those who have struggled to find lasting relief with eye drops alone.
She developed HydraEyes™, her individualised approach to dry eye care, which combines appropriate in-clinic treatments with a practical home lid regime. Treatment options may include prescription medication, punctal plugs, intense pulsed light and radiofrequency, according to the patient’s assessment.
Priya’s consultations are thorough and approachable. She takes time to listen, explain what is causing the problem and discuss the benefits and limitations of each option, so patients can make informed decisions and feel supported throughout their care.
Dr Priya Udani qualified in medicine in 2010. She holds a BSc in Human Anatomy, an MBBS and Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth).
She trained at King’s College London and completed her postgraduate ophthalmology training at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Moorfields Eye Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Her clinical practice focuses on oculoplastic surgery, dry eye disease and the health of the delicate tissues surrounding the eyes.
Priya’s special interests include upper eyelid blepharoplasty, menopause-related dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction and periocular rejuvenation.
Alongside her clinical work, she trains eye-care professionals in dry eye treatment and speaks at national and international professional events. Her speaking and teaching experience includes the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons congress and 100% Optical.
As a UK lead key opinion leader for InMode Envision, she teaches practitioners how to incorporate intense pulsed light and radiofrequency into personalised dry eye care. She is particularly interested in the connection between hormones, skin health and the ocular surface, and in helping clinicians recognise patients who may otherwise have their symptoms overlooked.
Priya is the Founder and Medical Director of Aesthetic Visual Result near Gatwick. She also practises at UMI Clinic in Petersfield and Dr Glyn Medispa at Eterno 360 in Fitzrovia, London.
Outside her clinical and teaching work, Priya enjoys travelling and spending time with her three children.
